Nestor of Icelandic Pop Music Dies

Ólafur Gaukur Thórhallsson guitarist and musician has passed away eighty years. Thórhallsson was born in Reykjavík 1930. He played with many of the most popular bands of the country, including the KK sextet. For a long time he lead the Ólafur Gaukur Band. He was a songwriter, producer and all around musician. He ran his own guitar school from 1975. His surviving wife is singer and radio programmer Svanhildur Jakobsdóttir. Their daughter is singer Anna Mjöll Ólafsdóttir.
