The festival includes various classes of competition ranging from children’s to the A and B classes where top riders and horses will display the different gaits of the Icelandic horse.

500 riders and up to 15,000 guests are expected to attend the weeklong event, reports.

The festival program also includes demonstrations, lectures, live music and other events culminating with a concert at Laugardalshöll on June 30.

A bus service will transport festivalgoers to the event from Lækjartorg in downtown Reykjavík.

According to the official web page of the festival, the first Landsmót was held in 1950.
