Mysterious White Powder Sent to Icelandic TV Station

The police were alerted after a mysterious letter from Morocco containing an unidentified white powder was delivered to the national broadcaster RÚV’s headquarters in Reykjavík on Friday, addressed to RÚV’s director Páll Magnússon.

From RÚV‘s coverage of the event.

Two of the broadcaster’s staff members came in contact with the powder when opening the letter, ruv.is reports.

The police brought the substance to the department of research in bacterial and contagious diseases at the Landspítali national hospital to analyze it.

It turned out that the powder was flour or another harmless substance. This is the second time that RÚV receives a potentially dangerous delivery; the first was received shortly after the terrorist attacks in the US in 2001.
