An anonymous person in Patreksfjördur (pop. 700) in the West Fjords has for the past few weeks taped friendly greetings onto windows of cars and company buildings around the town during night, and even on balloons hung in lamp posts.
Local shop owner Haukur Már Sigurdsson, was one of those waking up to a heartfelt note last Friday morning. He told Fréttabladid that this is an interesting initiative that brightens the day of inhabitants in the darkest hours of winter, adding that he doesn’t have a clue who is behind it.
“As it happens in a small community like ours, thousands of conspiracy theories have surfaced,” Sigurdsson said. “It is clear that the person in question does not fall easily asleep at night and he or she seems to have access to a good plastic-wrapper.”
All the notes were carefully wrapped in plastic so that rain and snow wouldn’t erase the message.
