In Hveragerdi, south Iceland, the town festival “Flourishing Days” will take place over the weekend and for the occasion townspeople will decorate their neighborhoods in all the colors of the rainbow, reports.

The festival will be characterized by music, ice cream, play and outdoor recreation; on Sunday awards will be granted to those who boast the best decorations.

Meanwhile, the inhabitants of Eyrarbakki, also in south Iceland, will take visitors back to the early 1900s with their annual “Turn of the Century Festival”, August 12-14.

The town already has an old-fashioned look but for the occasion townspeople will dress accordingly and antique cars will cruise the streets. Hearty Icelandic dishes, such as meat stew and flat bread, will be on offer and live music played.
