Participants will join a guide from the association to look for different kinds of mushrooms and berries in the forested area of Heiðmörk and its surroundings.
A mushroom expert will be on hand to explain which mushrooms are edible and how they can be used in cooking, as well as which mushrooms are poisonous, including the infamous Fly Amanita (Amanita muscaria), which the Vikings called berserkur and ate for its hallucinogenic effects.
The event is free and everyone is welcome.
Attendants are asked to bring a mushroom guide if they have one. The tour begins at the car park at Rauðhólar.
