A male in his fifties who was found unconscious with serious injuries in a flat in Reykjavík yesterday died last night in hospital. He is believed to have been brutally assaulted. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = “urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office” />
Another man who was present at the flat called the police. When they arrived on the scene the victim was unconscious and had lost a significant amount of blood due to head injuries. The man who called has been arrested on suspicion of having committed the attack.
The victim was rushed to a hospital where he was immediately put on a life support machine in an intensive care unit. He died late last night.
According to national radio RÚV, the case is still under investigation, but at the moment no one else is thought to have been in the flat at the time of the assault.
