Icelandic singer-songwriter Örn Elías Gudmundsson, a.k.a. Mugison, will officially launch his new album Mugiboogie in Britain on May 22. Since the album’s release in Iceland last year, Mugiboogie has sold in more than 10,000 copies.
Mugiboogie was chosen the Album of the Year in Iceland in 2007 and based on its success, Mugison was granted ISK 4 million (USD 52,000, EUR 33,000) from recently-founded music fund Kraumur.
Later this month, Mugison will warm up for Queens of the Stone Age during their tour in Canada. The band’s front man offered Mugison this opportunity after listening to Mugiboogie.
The launch party for Mugiboogie in London—arranged in conjunction with Icelandic Music Export (IMX)—will take place at the Corsica Studios on May 22, including a performance by Mugison.
