Mr. Iceland stripped of title

Ólafur Geir Jónsson, Mr. Iceland 2005, has been stripped of his title reports the Icelandic National Broadcasting Service, RÚV. According to RÚV, Ólafur did not meet the pageant’s expectations which include having a healthy lifestyle and a moderate lifestyle. Ólafur had signed a contract stating that he realized that his actions should always reflect the competition’s good reputation.

According to RÚV, the official reason for the title being taken away is that Ólafur marketed sex-toys on the TV program Splash.

In a statement the former Mr. Iceland, Ólafur, said that he was saddened by the pageant’s committee’s decision. He said that he had neither tarnished the competition’s brand nor broken any contracts. Ólafur said that it had been a great honor to receive the title of Mr. Iceland.

Runner up Jón Gunnlaugur Viggósson will be crowned the new Mr. Iceland.
