All available units of the Akureyri Fire Brigade were called out yesterday to extinguish a fire that burst out in Krossanes, northeast Iceland. The fire was reported around 4:00pm, with firefighters working through the night until 3:00am this morning. The fire was fueled by a mound of tires, with thick, black smoke billowing up from the blaze. Luckily the wind blew the smoke away from the nearby houses. Two boys, 10 and 12, have confessed to causing the blaze, explaining they were playing with fire near the tires when the flames got out of control. Fréttabladid reports.
