The woman is under a travel ban which expires on September 29. The Reykjavík Metropolitan Police’s investigation is in its final stages and afterwards the case will be sent to the State Prosecutor, Fréttabladid reports.

According to earlier news, the baby boy had a biological father in Iceland. The man didn’t know that the woman was pregnant any more than anyone else around her.

She is believed to have given birth at the hotel where she worked in Reykjavík in early July. After being treated at the Landspítali hospital due to excessive bleeding, suspicion arose that she had recently given birth.

The women would not admit to it but the police later found the body of an infant in the garbage storage outside the hotel where she worked. An autopsy indicated that the boy had been born alive and healthy.
