Most Employees of Bauhaus Iceland Laid Off

Almost every employee who had been hired to work in the new Bauhaus hardware store in Reykjavík, which has not even opened yet, has been laid off. Managing director Halldór Óskar Sigurdssons said it is unclear how many people exactly will lose their jobs.

Seventeen individuals had been hired to management positions in the hardware store, for which a total of 650 people had applied, Morgunbladid reports.

Bauhaus Iceland was scheduled to open in December, but earlier this month it was announced that the opening would be delayed. Sigurdsson said it is impossible to say for how long considering the current economic situation in Iceland.
