Morgunbladid Publishing House Seeks New Investors

Árvakur, the publishing house of Icelandic daily newspaper Morgunbladid, is working on reorganizing the company’s financing and introducing it to interested investors.

The company has run into operational difficulties and had at an earlier occasion considered a merger with the other major Icelandic daily, Fréttabladid.

“It is very pleasing for our employees to see that there is a great and positive interest in our operations,” Árvakur CEO Einar Sigurdsson told Morgunbladid. “Many people have declared their interest in participating as new shareholders in Árvakur.”

“It is our goal […] and the goal of New Glitnir, which is working with us, to create a future operational basis for the company,” Sigurdsson said. “Morgunbladid and are such important players in obtaining information and contributing to the discussion in this country that it is vital for this to happen quickly and efficiently.”

Morgunbladid recently celebrated its 90th anniversary.
