Minister for the Environment Svandís Svavarsdóttir presented Ragnar Axelsson, aka RAX, a photographer at the daily newspaper Morgunbladid, with the ministry’s media prize on the occasion of the Day of Icelandic Nature on September 16.

The trophy is called Jardarberid, “The Strawberry”, or “The Earth Berry” in literal translation, Fréttabladid reports.
Axelsson was selected from a group of four nominees. The jury concluded that he deserved the prize as he has been active in presenting Icelandic nature, particularly the interplay between man and nature.
The prize was granted for the first time on Friday, which was also the first time that the Day of Icelandic Nature was celebrated.
