According to a new report published in the magazine Arbetsliv i Norden, 52 percent of Icelandic youths aged 15-19 are employed. In Denmark, the ratio is 44 percent, in Norway 35 percent and in Finland 24 percent, while only 16 percent of Swedish youths have jobs, visir.is reports.

The report, which was compiled at the request of the Nordic Council of Ministers, found that many young people in the Nordic countries hold minimal wage jobs which require no particular skill or knowledge. Also, their hours are often irregular.
Many of these teenagers work alongside their studies but others have dropped out of school.
The report also reveals that this age demographic is more likely to have work-related accidents than adults.
