Icelandic runner Aníta Hinriksdóttir won the 800 meter race in the semi-finals at the European Athletics Junior Championships in Italy yesterday. Aníta completed the race in 2:02:61 and goes on to run in the finals tomorrow afternoon, ruv.is reports.

The 17-year-old set a new record over the weekend when she won the 800 meter event at the World Youth Championships in Donetsk, Ukraine, slicing half a second off the previous record.
