More Music Festivals Coming Up in Iceland

The electro music Extreme Chill Festival – Undir Jökli 2012 will take place at Hellissandur, by the foot of Snæfellsjökull glacier in west Iceland, June 29 to July 1.

More than 30 artists will perform, including Samaris, Sigtryggur Berg and Reptilicus, and Mixmaster Morris, Morgunblaðið reports. Ticket sale begins on on May 1.

Next month, May 25-27, the second annual Reykjavík Music Mess will take place at Faktorý Bar and Kex Hostel in the center of the capital, a press release states.

Among performers are Benni Hemm Hemm, Snorri Helgason, Legend and Úlfur, and international acts Jarse (FI), My Bubba & Mi (DK) and Cheek Mountain Thief (UK/IS). Ticket sale begins on on May 4. Events at Kex Hostel will be free.

The classical music festival Við Djúpið will be held for the tenth time in Ísafjörður, the West Fjords, June 19-24.

In other music news, the sale of My Head Is An Animal by Of Monsters And Men has increased by 250 percent in Iceland in two weeks; 11,000 copies have been sold in the country so far. The album is currently in 12th place of the American Billboard 200.
