More Fly Domestically than Ever Before

More people flew domestically in Iceland this year than ever before. So far this year more than 500,000 people flew with domestic airline Air Iceland, which is a 17 percent increase from 2006 when 427,000 passengers flew domestically.

Representatives of Flugstodir (ISAVIA), which provides air navigation services at Reykjavík Domestic Airport, say these numbers clearly indicate that Icelanders are increasingly choosing domestic air travel over driving, ruv.is reports.

Air Iceland’s 500,000th passenger arrived at Akureyri with his wife yesterday and was greeted with gifts from Reykjavík Domestic Airport.
