Icelandair will offer additional flights to New York next summer.

There will be an increase in flights between Iceland and North America next summer as well because Icelandair will also offer additional flights to New York while Iceland Express will add Chicago and Boston to its destination, Morgunbladid reports.

Last autumn Delta Air Lines announced its plans to commence direct flights between Iceland and New York in the summer of 2011.

Hjördís Gudmundsdóttir, the information officer of Isavia, which looks after the operation of Icelandic airports, said other foreign airlines are also considering launching flights to Iceland, Norwegian Air, for example.
