Of Monsters and Men Hit Number One

Icelandic band Of Monsters and Men this week hit the top spot on iTunes with their second album, Beneath the Skin.

In a busy week, they also appeared on American television shows The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, where they performed the song Crystals, and on Good Morning America.

The new album is now on general release across the world and the band will support it with an intensive tour, performing some 73 concerts all over the world in the second half of this year—including two at Harpa in Reykjavík this August.

Fans of the band can now create their own individualized album cover on the Of Monsters and Men website.

Beneath the Skin has received largely positive reviews and is “one of the biggest albums of the summer,” according to Entertainment Weekly.

Of Monsters and Men formed in Keflavík in 2010—winning the extremely coveted national battle of the bands competition—and released their first album in 2011. Little did they know at the time that it would be listened to around the planet and make them a valuable Icelandic music export.
