Mókolla from the farm Kirkjulækur in Fljótshlíð, South Iceland, has broken the Icelandic record for the production of milk in the lifetime of a dairy cow, producing a total of 111,354 kilos in 14 years.

The old record belonged to Hrafnhetta from Hólmar in Austur-Landeyjar in the same region. Mókolla is still in good shape and by the end of November, it had produced 151 kilos of milk in excess to what Hrafnhetta did in its lifetime, mbl.is reports.
On the website of the South Iceland Agriculture Society, Mókolla is described as a fortunate cow. Born on April 7, 1996, it is currently in its 17th winter.
It is said to take after its grandmother, Snegla from Hjálmholt, the mother of Snarfari, Mókolla’s father, which turned 17 and milked a total of 100,736 kilos in its life.
In Mókolla’s career as a dairy cow since 1998, the highest-yielding year was 2008 when it produced 10,398 kilos of milk.
The milk contains 4.67 percent of fat and 3.63 percent of protein on average.
Mókolla’s first calf was born on October 24, 1998, and its latest offspring saw the light of day on February 8, 2012.
