Members of the search and rescue team Brák found the body of a woman who had been missing since Monday last week on a beach in Belgholtsnes, approximately ten kilometers away from Borgarnes, west Iceland, on Saturday evening.
The woman was reported missing after leaving her home in Borgarnes on foot on Monday. She did not bring her mobile phone, Fréttabladid reports.
An extensive search was launched; around 150 search and rescue team members participated in the search at one point.
The woman, who was 46 years old, was a German citizen living in Borgarnes. She leaves behind a partner and a grown son.
