The foreign citizen reported missing yesterday was found outside the fence of Keflavík International Airport at noon today. Paramedics were called out to estimate the man’s condition. Overall, 111 search and rescue members took part in the search.
The man came to Iceland to visit relatives and the person he was staying with notified the police yesterday that he was missing. Emergency authorities managed to establish mobile phone contact with the man but he was unable to tell them where he was exactly, mbl.is reports.
The search parties were unable to reach the man after 3 am last night but the last they heard was that he was wet and cold. However, mobile phone data showed that he was on constant move. Conditions were difficult, dark, stormy and rainy.
