A missing runner has been found safe and sound, albeit cold, according to Jónas Guðmundsson of the Icelandic Association for Search and Rescue,Vísir reports.
About 100 rescue volunteers took part in the search for the runner, along with search dogs. Though there was good visibility during the search, there was also heavy rain, low clouds, and cold temperatures.
Rescue units in the capital region were mobilized last night to search for a runner either on or near the mountain Helgafell, near the town of Hafnarfjörður, Southwest Iceland. The man became separated from his running partner on the mountain and afterwards all contact with him was lost.
Rescue units were summoned to the mountain, given the windy, rainy weather in the area, and seeing as the man was only dressed for a run and not an extended outdoor stay.
