Missing Person’s Car Found Torched

Matthías Thórarinsson has been missing since before Christmas. On Thursday, his car was found in a gravel pit in Kjalarnes near his home. The car was burnt and the police believe it had burnt some time ago. The search for Thórarinsson continues.

The car was an old Russian jeep which had been accommodated as a caravan. There was no evidence about Thórarinsson’s whereabouts inside the vehicle, dv.is reports.

According to the police, Thórarinsson doesn’t socialize much but he used to regularly inform his family about his travels. However, he stopped contacting them shortly before Christmas.

It is possible that Thórarinsson was spotted in Selfoss in south Iceland the week before Christmas. He was believed to be traveling to the east.

He is 21-years-old, 180 centimeters tall and has blond hair. He usually stands out because of his clothing; he sometimes wears clothing he makes himself, Fréttabladid reports.

Those who might have any information on Thórarinsson’s whereabouts are asked to contact the police by calling (+354) 444-1000.
