A foreign tourist, who had been missing since Saturday morning, was found alive and well last night. About 160 rescue workers participated in his search, some afoot, others using four-wheelers and 4x4s. They had searched the area north of Kleifarvatn lake on the Reykjanes peninsula after the man failed to meet up with two other travel companions, as planned. He had decided to hike ahead of them, and intended to meet them at a camping site later on.
He was found on Suðurströnd road, 10-20 km off the track he had planned to hike. It’s not clear why he went that far off the planned route. The man is a 58-year-old British citizen.
