Iceland’s Ministry of Education recently released the handbook Upper Secondary Education in Iceland 2008 about the organization of study and courses offered in secondary schools in Iceland in languages other than Icelandic for the first time.
The main passages of the handbook have been translated into eight different languages: English, Lithuanian, Polish, Russian, Serbian, Spanish, Thai and Vietnamese in an effort to reach students of foreign origin.
The handbook includes a special table listing schools offering courses in the Icelandic language especially aimed at students who do not speak Icelandic natively. Such courses may also be helpful for young Icelanders who have lived abroad for many years.
The handbook can be downloaded from the website of the ministry or ordered via [email protected].
