They include Minister for the Environment Svandís Svavarsdóttir, Minister of Finance Steingrímur J. Sigfússon and Minister of Industry Katrín Júlíusdóttir.

The campaigners walked with candles from the Culture House on Hverfisgata to the sculpture Sólfarid on Saebraut. The march marks the beginning of a 16-day international initiative to raise awareness of and combat violence against women, Morgunbladid reports.

This year’s theme is to fight violence against women in areas of military conflict. Closer to home the goal is to underline the perpetrator’s responsibility in cases of violence.
