Military Presentation to Be Banned in Icelandic Schools

svandissvavarsdottir_althingiSvandís Svavarsdóttir, acting minister of education, wants military presentations to be banned in Icelandic secondary schools in reaction to news that the Norwegian military has introduced its studies and services to Icelandic students.

RÚV stated on its evening news on Wednesday last week that school directors can expect a letter from the minister to that regard in the coming days.

According to media reports, the military presentations, which have taken place in three secondary schools in Reykjavík, have been well received by students and not criticized by school authorities. At least three Icelanders have studied with the Norwegian military.
