Iceland has enjoyed unusually mild temperatures the latter part of this winter. “Six weeks have passed since the New Year and the fake spring continues. Of course it is no spring, yet the average temperature so far this year is similar what occurs in the third week of April,” meteorologist Trausti Jónsson wrote on his blog for Morgunblaðið.

“In the coming days it won’t be particularly warm but not cold either and long-term forecasts do not indicate cooling temperatures. If the weather goes on like this for long enough, it will be considered notable,” Trausti continued.
However, in spite of a good start of February, the month doesn’t come close to the all-time record. The warmest February Reykjavík has ever seen was in 1932 when the average heat measured 5°C (41°F) and, according to forecasts, the record won’t be broken.
