Met Office Issues Storm Warning

The Icelandic Met Office has issued a storm warning for today. The forecast is for winds of up to 25 meters per second with rain and black ice, ruv.is reports.

Conditions will be worst on Snæfellsnes where gusts are expected to reach up to 50 meters per second. Stormy conditions are expected in the capital area between 3 pm and 5 pm. Parents are urged to pick up their children from school rather than let them travel home alone.

The weather will improve in the Southwest this evening but the storm is expected to continue into the night in the northwest of the country.
