Men Attacked in Downtown Reykjavík

Two men were attacked in downtown Reykjavík last night. One was punched in the face and suffered a broken cheekbone, nose and teeth and the other was stabbed with a knife, but only suffered superficial wounds.

The first man was attacked outside Sólon nightclub. When police arrived, the attacker had disappeared. The victim will undergo surgery today, ruv.is reports.

The other man was attacked by four men in Bergstadastraeti around 2 am. He is not seriously injured, but was brought to hospital where 80 stitches were needed to close the stab wounds he suffered. The man did not know why he had been targeted and the attackers are still on the loose.

Police received four reports on cases of breaking-and-entering last night. The high school in Hamrahlíd in Reykjavík was also burglarized.
