Men Arrested for Blowing up Car in North Iceland

By Iceland Review

Two men were arrested in Akureyri, North Iceland, today on suspicion of having thrown a gas bomb, or a Molotov cocktail, at a vacant vehicle outside a private home at 4:30 this morning. Yesterday evening, a masked individual tried to break into the house.

The owner of the car is an employee of the District Commissioner’s Office in Akureyri. He said he had noticed the man at his front entrance yesterday. When he opened the door, the man ran away, reports.

Police officers on patrol noticed the fire coming from the car this morning and called the fire brigade. They were quick to extinguish the fire but the car is completely damaged.

The car’s owner said it’s very rare that employees of the District Commissioner’s Office fall victim to such attacks. He has not experienced anything like it before.

The police confirmed that two men have been arrested in relation with this case, which is under investigation. Both men have a police record.
