Melchior to Play in Reykjavík Tonight

The band Melchior will perform in concert at Café Rósenberg in Reykjavík tonight at 9:30 pm. The band, which was founded in 1973, recently released the double album <1980, which is the band’s fifth album. The repertoire will contain a mix of songs.

The band was primarily active in the late 1970s when it released the LPs Silfurgraent ilmvatn (1978) and Balapopp (1979). The band’s latest album is a republication of these LPs. It includes the well-known hit “Alan” among other tracks, a press release states.

Last year the band released a new album, bearing the band’s name, which contained the popular “Fiskisúpa Sigrídar í Fjöruhúsinu”. Melchior also participated in the Reykjavík Arts Festival and held concerts both in the capital and around the country.

The band members are: Hilmar Oddsson, Hródmar I. Sigurbjörnsson, Karl Roth, who sing and play guitars and keyboard, singer Kristín Jóhannsdóttir, bassist Gunnar Hrafnsson and drummer Steingrímur Gudmundsson.

Tonight the band will also be accompanied by violinist Margrét Kristjánsdóttir and trumpet player Ragnhildur Gunnarsdóttir.

Tonight’s concert will be followed by a performance at the Slippsalur, Mýrargata 2 in Reykjavík, on December 4 at 4 pm and at the Settlement Center in Borgarnes on December 10 at 8:30 pm.
