Mayor of Reykjavík Dagur B. Eggertsson will lead talks between the owners of Sudurnes Heating Utility (HS), including Reykjavík Energy (OR), as well as the state and local authorities about ways to secure natural resources for public ownership.
Eggertsson, who is a member of a multi-partisan investigation committee that decided to annul the merger between Reykjavík Energy Invest (REI) and Geysir Green Energy (GGE) and is now trying to find a solution to the debate between OR and the two companies, denied plans to move OR’s share in HS to REI and from there to GGE in exchange for capital stock in GGE, as Morgunbladid reported yesterday.
“It was nothing but a document from our work in the investigation committee that Independence Party members had leaked to the media in hopes of stirring up some dirt,” Eggertsson told Morgunbladid.
According to Fréttabladid, OR’s share in HS will not be moved anywhere before Minister of Industry Össur Skarphédinsson’s proposal on public ownership of natural resources will become a law.
Skarphédinsson’s proposal will serve as basis for the HS talks, which are scheduled to begin next week.
