Mayor of Reykjavík and Erró Reward Young Artist

Mayor of Reykjavík Hanna Birna Kristjánsdóttir and Erró, one of Iceland’s most accomplished artists, presented Margrét H. Blöndal with a prize and recognition from the Gudmunda Kristinsdóttir Art Fund last week for her contributions to visual art.

The award ceremony took place at the opening of two exhibitions in Reykjavík Art Museum – Hafnarhús on May 28, “Erró – Portrett” and “Possibilities – The Gudmunda Kristinsdóttir Art Prize.” Blöndal participates in the latter.

The fund was established by Erró in the memory of his aunt Gudmunda Kristinsdóttir and it is intended to enforce and strengthen artistic creation among women and granted to outstanding female artists.

The Gudmunda Art Prize was granted for the tenth time this year. Earlier recipients include, Ólöf Nordal, Finna Birna Steinsson, Katrín Sigurdardóttir, Gabríela Fridriksdóttir, Sara Björnsdóttir, Thóra Thórisdóttir, Gudrún Vera Hjartardóttir, Hekla Dögg Jónsdóttir and Hulda Stefánsdóttir.
