Massive Drugs Seizure

Two people, one Icelandic and the other an Icelandic resident, are being held in detention in Copenhagen after police seized around 41,000 ecstasy pills on Thursday.

According to Danish police, the street value of the drugs is around ISK 433 million (USD 3.4 million, EUR 2.67 million), ruv.is reports.

Both individuals are reportedly known to police and are believed to have been on their way to Iceland. The pair have been placed under four weeks detention and 14 days in solitary confinement thereof.

Steffen Thaaning of the Danish police said it isn’t likely that the case is related to the case of the Icelanders currently in custody in Denmark on suspicion of amphetamine smuggling, although he wouldn’t rule it out.
