This is the second mass layoff reported to the Directorate of Labor in October; game designer CCP announced the redundancy of 120 employees last month, of whom 34 are based in Iceland, Morgunbladid reports.
The Directorate of Labor has received several reports on mass layoffs this year in which a total of 580 people have lost their jobs.
However, their number is considerably lower when compared to mass layoffs in the three years prior; in 2010, 953 people lost their jobs in mass layoffs, in 2009 4,246 and in 2008, 2,260.
