Minister of Industry and Trade Jón Sigurdsson gave Dr. Jón Ágúst Thorsteinsson, managing director of Marorka ehf., an award for the biggest growth of a newcomer “Vaxtarsprotinn 2007” at the Kópavogur Art Museum on Friday.
Maroka, a high-tech company specializing in energy management and energy systems research for ocean vessels, increased its turnover by 87.5 percent between 2005 and 2006. No other newcomer showed as much growth in that time period, Fréttabladid reports.
The award “Vaxtarsprotinn” was handed out for the first time on Friday and will mark an annual event from now on. It is thought of as a recognition of new successful companies.
