Many highland tracks now open

Icelandic National Broadcasting Service, RÚV, reports that many tracks and roads in Iceland’s interior are now open for traffic, including Sydra-Fjallabak and Emstrur (to the north of Mýrdalsjökull), and Sprengisandur which runs from the south to the north of the country between the glaciers Hofsjökull and Vatnajökull.

Many other tracks are still closed and tourists are advised to contact the Icelandic Road Administration for further details, http://www.vegagerdin.is/english/.
