The turnout was massive at the meeting of citizens’ organization Bót, held last night at the Reykjavík City Hall, according to visir.is. The organization was founded to fight poverty in Iceland.

At the meeting, it was revealed that a large number of people only have approximately 50,000 ISK (420 USD, 330 EUR) to subsist on once the bills have been paid.
Chairman of The Icelandic Confederation of Labor, Gylfi Arnbjörnsson, stated that improving the living conditions of the lowest paid in the upcoming wage contract negotiations was a priority. Also, that insurance benefits would not be cut any further.
Newly appointed Minister of Justice and Human Rights, Ögmundur Jónasson, attended the meeting.
