Reykjavík FC is the oldest football (soccer) club in <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = “urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags” />Iceland and since 1912 it has won 24 Icelandic League titles. After eleven rounds played this summer, the club is at the bottom of the league with only seven points.

In an interview with Morgunbladid daily, Thórdarson said the decision to sack him came as a surprise but he nevertheless understood it. He said wished the club all the best and hoped it wouldn’t be relegated.
