A man turned off the street lights in the rural community of Kleppjárnsreykir in Borgarfjörður recently so that tourists could get a better view of the northern lights. The man used a flashlight to trick the sensors in the street lights, ruv.is reports.
The local police said that the action had put the travelers, who were on the road admiring the northern lights, at risk. The police added that tourists sometimes stop their cars in the middle of the road to watch the northern lights, posing a danger to other drivers.
The man reportedly told police that the lights were only off for half an hour and that he had made sure that the tourists were not on the road but that he won’t try turning the lights off again.
