Man threatens to kill staff of Akureyri store

By Iceland Review

A man threatened to kill the staff of a 24-hour grocery store in Akureyri, northeast Iceland, last night. He had been arrested earlier the same day along with two other men after carrying a baseball bat into the store in question.

The three men had been arrested after a staff member contacted the police. According to police, the men were under the influence of mind-alerting substances, but had not threatened the store clerks at the time, Morgunbladid reports.

During a search of the vehicle the men were driving, illegal substances were discovered along with a knife, two other bats and an electric stun gun.

The three men were taken to the police station in Akureyri and questioned once the influence of the drugs they had taken had worn off. Police confiscated the weapons discovered and released the men, setting them free to return to the store.

On Tuesday evening two of the men arrested yesterday had been questioned in relation to a residential search for drugs.
