Man Stabbed in the Neck in Reykjavík

The Reykjavík Metropolitan Police received a report of an assault at a restaurant on Laugavegur, Reykjavík’s main shopping street, shortly before midnight last night.

A man was said to be going berserk inside the restaurant, stabbing one of the guests in the neck with a knife, ruv.is reports.

The suspected perpetrator was arrested at the scene and the victim was taken to the Landspítali hospital emergency room with serious injuries to his neck.

The police were also notified of a motorcycle accident on Nýbýlavegur in Kópavogur at 2 am this morning. The driver is severely injured after having driven into a crash barrier.

There is neither suspicion of drunk driving nor speeding.
