A man of foreign citizenry was given a 60-day provisory prison sentence in Reykjavík District Court on Wednesday for attacking two police officers while they were paroling Laugavegur in downtown Reykjavík in early January 2008.
The court found proven that one of the men had hit two of the police officers, but the man was convicted for common assault instead of for attacking a person in authority, for which he was charged, 24 Stundir.
Two other men were charged in this case for attacking a third police officer, but were found not guilty due to lack of proof.
