Man Sent to Five Years in Prison for Attempted Murder

By Iceland Review

Ingi Páll Eyjólfsson, who is in his twenties, was sentenced to five years in prison at Reykjavík District Court on Tuesday for attempted murder. Eyjólfsson attacked his half-brother with a knife at Hlemmur bus terminal in Reykjavík in November.

The brothers had gotten into a fight, which ended with Eyjólfsson stabbing his half-brother in the back and shoulder, inflicting serious injuries, Fréttabladid reports.

The blade pierced the left shoulder blade and punctured the lung. The other stab injured a muscle on the left shoulder. Eyjólfsson must also pay his half-brother ISK 1.6 million in compensation (USD 14,000, EUR 11,000).
