A man who lost three fingers in a fireworks accident on New Year’s Eve 2013 has now filed a lawsuit against the sales agent, the agent’s insurance company and the minister of justice. He believes the firework was faulty and holds both the importer and state responsible.
When the man was launching fireworks, a ball fell off one of the rockets and rolled towards him. He picked it up to throw it in the trash but then it exploded in his hand, blowing off three of his fingers, ruv.is reports.
The man demanded that the sales agent’s insurance company cover the damage given that the rocket had been faulty. However, the insurance company refused.
The man has therefore decided to take the sales agent, insurance company and minister of justice to court. Prime Minister of Iceland Sigmundur Davíð Gunnlaugsson served as minister of justice when the lawsuit was filed.
