Reykjavík District Court found Redouane Naoui guilty of the murder of Hilmar Þórir Ólafsson at the nightclub Monte Carlo in the city center in July 2011 this morning and sentenced him to 16 years in prison.

Naoui was convicted of having stabbed his victim in the throat, inflicting serious injuries which led to his death, visir.is reports.
Naoui was in an intoxicated state when he attacked Hilmar and stated before the court that he couldn’t remember the incident and that he had hardly known the victim.
The convict is also to pay Hilmar’s daughters ISK 2 million (USD 17,000, EUR 13,000) in damages.
