The victim’s condition is still serious—he is being cared for at the Landspítali hospital’s rehabilitation department at Grensás, visir.is reports.

The verdict said the attack had been particularly brutal. Ólafsson violently attacked his father, repeatedly hit him in the head with brass knuckles and repeatedly kicked his face as he lay helpless on the floor. He didn’t stop until he slipped on blood.

According to the verdict, Ólafsson confessed to having attacked his father but denied having intended to kill him. Various evidence indicate that Ólafsson had wanted to harm his father for a long time.
